The Cement Garden - Ian McEwan

rate - 7/10

Age rate - 16

I age rate this 16 and upwards because there are sexual references and content but read as you will. (:

Following the lives of four siblings and their coping strategies of death. McEwan cleverly depicts the colossal deterioration of humanity in each of the children. From start to finish they see their situation as one big holiday.

I was hoping for something to grab me from this read, as i had heard so much about it however i was disapointed that there was no pinnacle, at the time. Reviewing this from a time after reading it i can say that it was hiden all along. There was a point at which the novel tied together but its something you will have to read to understand.

Therefor i recomend this read to whoever would wonder what it would be like if you had no house rules to follow. If you wished yoru parents would jsut disapear maybe you might think twice after this?

Peace to all my literature lovers out there

A Clockwork Orange - Anthony Burgess

Rate - 9/10

Age Rate - 14

Alex, i think is around 14, enjoys violence, rape and classical music. How pleasant :.

This dystopian novel [futuristic] is a jumpy book, and very hard to get in to but not impossible. With the language that Burgess has chosen the flow of the book is one that takes some effort and i defiantly found it a chore for the first half. BUT!!!!.... keep reading, honest to my word i am this is an inspirational book. One that i believe that no teenager should pass their teens without setting their 'glazzies' on.

I wouldn't say that i would recommend it to everyone....its a challenge with a pot of gold. Not a girls book either. No hint of romance, no lead girl just men and their toys.

peace to all my literature lovers
